Pen in Hand

“If I fall asleep with a pen in my hand, don’t remove it – I might be writing in my dreams.” (Terri Guillemets) – from Kendra Norman-Bellamy’s FB page

Deborah & Daughter, Davida

Deborah Baldwin & her daughter, Davida (retro)

FB has a million quotes a second being generated–I’m sure–at least!  But sometimes I come across one that transports my mind and heart to another place.  That happened to me today with this one:

“If I fall asleep with a pen in my hand, don’t remove it – I might be writing in my dreams.”  (Terri Guillemets)

This quote made me think of my long-time friend, Deborah Baldwin, who one night, while laying in her bed writing, fell into an eternal sleep. When Deborah was found the next morning by her daughter, she was slumped over the page like a wilted rose, but with the pen still in her hand as if writing.  It was like Death interrupted her before she could write her next words. However this quote made me wonder, perhaps Deborah’s next words were written and stored in Heavenly places.  Perhaps In the twinkling of an eye, the spiritual body and language changed; so what she saw, felt, and heard in those last moments rendered words impossible and obsolete.*

My friend and Davida’s mother, Deborah, prayerfully waited years for a kidney–that never came. She loved and she was loved. She was needed.  Deborah is terribly missed!
